Leanna iron mills in the property is known as early as the 1200s but the ironworks was founded in 1644 when the merchant Henry Lohe built a bar hammer in Leanna parish with permission from Queen Christina. The name Leanna iron mills began is used from the 1700s. The mills went out of business in 1853.
